I have to admit, I was pretty impressed with Sera this morning, during her waterbabes class. Ok, I know ... all parents think their children are the BEST and sometimes, I agree, that can be really annoying. But Sera's performance in swim class today warrants some praising from this mama.
There were only three babies today so that was nice to begin with. Less students meant Sera was less distracted and also, more attention from the swim teacher. As usual, we started with the babies sitting on the ledge of the pool and then proceeded to sing 'Humpty Dumpty'. Before I could even start to sing, she pushed herself into the pool! Ha ha. This girl was just too excited to get into the water. So I quickly fished her out and put her up unto the ledge to join the other two babies. And again, she pushed herself in, this time showing some fussiness because she didn't want to be sitting on the ledge singing the silly song. So Sera and I just started to swim and waited for the rest.
We did some warming up, were taught a new holding technique and then it was duckling dives for the rest of the lesson. Going underwater was a breeze for Sera, and she was enjoying it so much. No struggling, crying or complaining from her. And today, we went a bit further. Her swim teacher dunked Sera into the water and she had to swim, about 2 metres towards me. I too, had to go underwater to retrieve her. It was so cool seeing her underwater, eyes open and trying valiantly to 'swim' towards me. I have to say Sera is a bit too buoyant so she was a little clumsy underwater. But I thin k she did well for her first swim underwater. Good job Sera!
Sera goes underwater
You can't see her, but Sera is swimming underwater from me to the swim teacher.

Well done! ... my dear Sera. You would probably have better swimming memories then your mama, who at a very young age, was thrown in the water, by great grand papa. What a harrowing way to learn swimming!
