Sleepless in Doha

It's 12.17am and I'm still terribly wide awake. I've been tossing and turning in bed but sleep has all but alluded me. I've even given Sera her last feed for the night (well, I hope). I have to say, the last time I had difficulty falling asleep was when I was pregnant. Back then, it was a combination of my hormones playing havoc to my system and Sera kicking me at all angles. Hah, those were the days.

Tonight, there are three contributing factors. First reason is 'Survivor: Fiji Island'. I regret to say we actually watched an hour of it before we turned in today. And I have to admit (sheepishly), we (yes, even Johan though he would be the first to deny it) were highly entertained. Ha ha. I got myself overly psyched up watching starved, haggard and unkempt people trying to 'outwit, outlast and (what's the third word) ... oh yes, outplay' each other. Thus explains why I was too restless for sleep. Poor Yau-Men, kicked out of the game by Dreamz who promised to give him the immunity idol! Would I break my PROMISE to another for $1 million dollars? Ok ... earth to Desiree, earth to Desiree ...

Aside from post-'Survivor' bewilderment, I am also suffering from a left ear ache and a left swollen (and throbbing) eye. I suspect that this problem is co-related. I am feeling much discomfort and I may have to visit the doctor tomorrow. Hmm, I wonder if this ear ache is the result of the chlorine water from the pool? A high possibility I think ...

Oh I hear Sera ... she's crying. I shall attend to her now.

(pause)

Ok, I have rambled enough. And sleep (thank goodness) is slowly beckoning me, thus I shall humbly abide.

Goodnight. Or actually, good morning ...
